Visualization of Categorical Data Conference

Welcome to the World Wide Web pages for the Conference on Visualization of Categorical Data, organized by Jörg Blasius and Michael Greenacre, and hosted by the Zentralarchiv für Empirische Sozialforschung at the University of Cologne, May, 1995.

As described in the conference report, the conference brought together social scientists and statisticians to discuss methods of graphical representation of categorical data. The main topics of the conference were:

correspondence analysis
homogeneity analysis
biplot
latent class analysis
loglinear modelling
multidimensional scaling and unfolding
cluster analysis
ideal point discriminant analysis
formal concept analysis

as well as various new techniques of visualization developed for specific types of data.

Because this is the first international conference held on the topic of visualization techniques and applications for categorical data, it was considered useful to make the conference record available via the WWW in advance of any publications.
